Roll & Stroll: An Accessible Adventure!

We are thrilled to announce our first in a series of hikes that welcomes people of all abilities to explore the Preserve's trails. The terrain will be relatively level containing forest, a lake, and fields. Our carriage roads are 16 feet wide and surfaced with gravel. All-terrain devices or wheelchairs with bicycle-type wheels/tires are recommended. Standard wheelchairs should work as well but hard rubber tires can lead to a bumpier ride. We'll have two routes to choose from; either 1 or 1.5 miles in length. After the first half mile, participants can choose to round the lake and return to the Visitor's Center, or continue for another mile. There will be a hike leader with each group. Bicycles are not permitted. Max: 30 people. Cost: FREE, registration required. Parking: $6 per vehicle. RockefellerStateParkPreserve.org/events.

Arbor Day Tree Planting

Preserve educator, Kim Fendrich, will have a display of rocks, minerals, and fossils from around the world, uncovering the mysteries of Earth's 4.5-billion-year history one sample at a time. The day will include family-friendly interactive performances, hands-on art and STEAM activities, bilingual story time, garden activities, face painting, an open artist's studio, and complimentary pizza and ice cream.
