New York State Parks Needs Lifeguards!

Home for Spring Break? Check to see when the next lifeguard exam is available

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is hiring lifeguards for the summer season at its swimming beaches and pools.

"Lifeguards are vital to our State Parks' success throughout the most popular months of the year," said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. "Our devoted lifeguards help ensure visitors have a safe and enjoyable time at our beautiful beaches, lakes and pools. Lifeguarding is a fantastic way high school and college students can make money and gain valuable job experience in a friendly, active and fun environment."

New York State Park lifeguards must be at least 16 years old and meet certain eligibility criteria, including passing a qualifying exam before being hired. Pre-registration for exams is strongly encouraged.
