Fort Niagara State Park Sparks Electrical Upgrades

New York State Parks officials were joined today by Sen. George Maziarz and Assemblyman John Ceretto and representatives from Old Ft. Niagara and contractors Ferguson Electric and Wendel Duchscherer to hold a ceremonial lighting of the Ft. Niagara Lighthouse to demonstrate the electrical upgrades that were recently completed in the park.

The $1.875 million project, which was deemed consistent by the Niagara River Greenway and funded by the NYS Parks Standing Committee as part of the relicensing of the New York Power Authority's (NYPA) Niagara Power Project, includes the replacement and upgrading of the existing primary and secondary electrical distribution system throughout the entire State Park.

Similar work was completed two years ago for the Old Fort. These upgrades will provide the park with a reliable and dependable electrical distribution system that will allow workers to more quickly troubleshoot any issues that may develop.
