Depicted on this engraved powder horn is a map that extends from Philadelphia through Ohio country to Detroit and Lower Canada, a route associated with the French and Indian War. The horn is also decorated with the Royal Seal of a crowned lion. It is engraved "Adam Miers June the 2 1759." A second name engraved on the horn, "John Foxall," is probably the maker. This powder horn was donated to Senate House in 1961, only to be stolen in 1968. An antique dealer who purchased the powder horn returned it to the site in 2003 after suspecting it belonged to Senate House. Early record keeping helped confirm the authenticity of ownership.
