Due to our spectacular location under the Atlantic Flyway, Crown Point State Historic Site is a premiere location for viewing birds migrating north for the season. Returning for their 44th year, the Crown Point banding station returns to record migration data on site. Watch as this experienced team of citizen scientists net hundreds of birds, identify species and record their songs.

Join Delaware Oswego Audubon member, Andy Mason, along with Park Naturalists for an outdoor foray in search of the birds of spring. Affectionately known as "John O'Birds", the renown Catskill naturalist (1837-1921) waxed especially romantic about the "return of the birds," bringing millions of Americans to a heightened appreciation of nature during a critical period in US conservation history. Bird sightings found at the Memorial Field will be embellished with pertinent quotes from Burroughs' vibrant essays.

Meet at John Burroughs Memorial Field in Roxbury. This program is open to the public free of charge. In case of inclement weather, the program will be cancelled. For more information, please call Mine Kill State Park at (518) 827-8685.

Environmental Educator George Steele will be here for a program about Birds! Come explore the wonders of nature at Schoharie Crossing. Our Wildlife Wednesday program covers a range of topics – from aquatic life to birds to plants and environmental awareness. These programs are facilitated by Environmental Educators George Steele and Anita Sanchez as well as NYS Parks Naturalist Interns.

A suggested donation of $3 covers the programming fee.

Live education birds may include red-tailed hawk, broad-winged hawk, American kestrel, barred owl, screech owl and great horned owl. Stop by the Minnewaska Yurt, located in the grassy field next to the parking lot closest to Lake Minnewaska, to meet these amazing and beautiful animals in person! Pre-Registration is NOT required.
