The Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association hosts a monthly stargazing party in the West Beach parking lot. Bring your own telescopes and binoculars or use those provided by our members. You will be asked to provide your license plate number and make/model car, so park management and police have a record of who will be in park after hours. Full Moon Hike: “Buck Moon”

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Tickets available June 16 at 10 am. Experience the Preserve after dark! Join Shayla, Hailey, and Dave for a 4-mile hike on carriage roads lit by moonlight. We walk at a brisk pace and there will be hills; some hiking experience is recommended. Leashed dogs are welcome. Meet in the Visitor Center courtyard. Please bring water and wear comfortable closed-toed shoes. IMPORTANT: We leave promptly at scheduled times. This hike takes place after the park has closed; latecomers will not be able to join after the group has departed. In the event of inclement weather, the hike will be canceled; you will be notified at least 2 hours in advance. Max: 40 people. Cost: $4, RockefellerStateParkPreserve.org/events.

Stargazing in the Preserve

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Peer into the cosmos with Vinny Coulehan of the Rockland Astronomy Club. View the night sky through a telescope and observe Jupiter, Saturn, stars and more! Meet in the Visitor Center courtyard. Bring water and a flashlight or headlamp with a red setting. Dress warmly and bring a lightweight folding chair if you are uncomfortable standing for 1.5 hours. In case of bad weather, the event may be canceled or postponed; you will be notified via email by noon day of. Max: 20 Cost: $4. RockefellerStateParkPreserve.org/events.
