Lake Taghkanic State Park
The Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association hosts a monthly stargazing party in the West Beach parking lot. Bring your own telescopes and binoculars or use those provided by our members. You will be asked to provide your license plate number and make/model car, so park management and police have a record of who will be in park after hours. More info at https://www.spy-hill.net/myers/astro/ltsp/. Registration: RSVP is required at least one day beforehand.

Full Moon Hike: “Pink Moon”

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Tickets available April 19 at 10 am, Experience the Preserve after dark! Join Shayla, Hailey, and Dave for a 4-mile hike on carriage roads lit by moonlight. We walk at a brisk pace and there will be hills; some hiking experience is recommended. Leashed dogs are welcome. Meet in the Visitor Center courtyard. Please bring water, a flashlight or headlamp, and wear comfortable closed-toed shoes. IMPORTANT: We leave promptly at scheduled times. This hike takes place after the park has closed; latecomers will not be able to join after the group has departed. In the event of rain or snow, the hike will be canceled; you will be notified at least 2 hours in advance. Max: 40 people. Cost: $4 RockefellerStateParkPreserve.org/events.

Enjoy the first full moon of spring, the "Pink Moon" with environmental educator Hannah on a short hike looking for stars, owls, and other nocturnal animals. Please wear appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Trails are typically muddy in the spring. Weather dependent, registration required. Email minekillsp@parks.ny.gov or call (518)827-6111 to register.

Join a park educator on a beginner hike and if the clouds cooperate, we'll get to enjoy the splendor of the full "Pink Moon" rising above the mountains! This hike is free, is family friendly and well-behaved dogs on a 6 foot or shorter leash are welcome. This hike will not go the full 3.5 miles, we will be going closer to 2.5 miles on flat terrain. Wear the appropriate clothing for muddy conditions. Please register in advance by calling 518-793-0511 the earlier the better as this is a popular program and it fills up quickly.
