Looking for a fun, family-friendly activity over Spring Break? Join us indoors at Philipse Manor Hall to try your hand at all kinds of historical games. Learn the history behind how kids and adults played in the past, and then learn how to play Quoits, Nine Men's Morris, Skittles, Shut the Box, Cribbage, Mancala, and more! Then try a special scavenger hunt of the museum, including a bingo version. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is recommended, but not required. Register at

Yonkers "Half-a-millionaire" Horace Vandergelder is looking for a wife. Famous matchmaker Dolly Levi is just the person to find him one. In "Hello, Dolly!" (1969, 148 mins, G), hijinks ensue as everyone from the office clerk on up searches for love in Gilded Age New York! With commentary from Yonkers City Historian Mary Hoar and Philipse Manor Hall interpreter David C. Lucas on the accuracies and inaccuracies of the film, familiar on-location shots, and movie trivia. This story is written in the rocks, hills, and valleys we live in; tales of an incredible transformation of land that was once situated at the equator submerged under the sea, later buried under a sheet of ice 2,000 feet thick. Springtime Forest Art Workshop

Join us for this free, family-friendly workshop where you will learn a variety of art techniques to create your own springtime tree portrait. Using wax resist techniques, watercolors, and collage elements, create a beautiful work of art showcasing a tree leafing out in springtime, guided by a professional artist. Art pieces can be displayed individually, or with other pieces to form a mural. All materials provided.

“What’s A Yonker? Tales of Van Der Donck & the Olde Dutch” with Jonathan Kruk

In honor of Dutch-American Friendship Day, master storyteller Jonathan Kruk brings to life stories of the "First American," Adriaen Van Der Donck, and how Yonkers got its name, with guest appearances by curmudgeonly Peter "The Headstrong" Stuyvesant, haunting river spirits, and more. Audiences of all ages will enjoy Kruk's rollicking blend of local history and lore.
