Continual demonstrations of three different maples sugaring techniques will be doing on, including Iroquois stone boiling, iron pot fire pit boiling, and the use of a modern evaporator. Hourly walks led by park naturalists will highlight maple tree identification, how to tap a tree, and more! Pancake breakfasts will be available thanks to the Friends of Letchworth State Park from 10am to 1pm each day. To date, more than 1,100 bluebirds have fledged from our boxes.

The photos in this exhibit are part of a 3 year project by nature photographer Ross Eatman and photojournalist and writer Paula Sharp to document some of the wild bees inhabiting New York's Rockefeller State Park Preserve and nearby Stone Barnes Center for Food and Agriculture. The spectacular clarity of these photos allows you to see the fine details of beach bee, and together they tell a story of the bee's interconnectedness with our planet's health. Along with the photos, enjoy observing pinned bee specimens and other artifacts.

Are school children will be visiting Letchworth State Park in commemoration of the birth of its great benefactor, William Pryor Letchworth. A half-mile loop around the Glen Iris Inn will highlight the park's history. Along the loop, 15-minute programs, at 10 interpretive stations in rotation, will be conducted on various subjects including flint knapping, atlatl demonstration, Civil War camp life, and local plants & animals. You may even meet Caroline Bishop, Mr. Letchworth's trusted secretary, or Mr. Letchworth himself enjoying the festivities.

We will explore the life in and around Trout Pond.

Ages 6-12 on the 6th, 17th, and 27th

Ages 12+ on the 20th

This program is geared towards home school families with children ages 6-12. Offering one program per month for families with children ages 12+. Each month will focus on a different theme. Programs are free of charge, and pre-registration is not required but appreciated. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire program. Home Ecologist is at the Humphrey Nature Center.

Study the beauty and composition of hundreds of dried butterfly specimens representing most of the world's butterfly families. Dozens of local and New York species, as well as those found in the Niagara Parks butterfly Conservatory, are specially noted. Butterfly structure and local natural history will be featured in two new butterfly videos. This is an excellent primer for the Butterfly Walk on July 6th.
