Baker Trail Hike

The Baker trail is always an enjoyable and challenging hike. We will summit the Palmertown Mtn range at a comfortable pace. Then we will hike the ridge which is rather flat and takes us past the overlook of Moreau Lake. This is a pleasant hike that if we are lucky enough we may get a chance to see some wildlife. This hike is a pretty flat hike. We will start off on the nature trail and head out to Mud Pond. There we will see some beaver lodges and maybe some other fun wildlife. Spring Overlook Hike

A park educator will lead as we hike along this steep but short hike up to the Spring Overlook. This almost mile long trek one way is one of the favorites at the park. Once at the top you will see a beautiful view of the Hudson River. Reservations are required with 24-hour advanced notice, please call 518-793-0511. This hike is about 2 miles round trip, so not very long, but a little on the steeper side. Rating: Advanced

Please bring gloves, water, snack and dress appropriately for all projects

Volunteer Project #1: planting annual flowers and vegetables in beach house gardens. Appropriate for children 12 and under.

Volunteer Project #2: Lake shore walk to pick up garbage and fishing line. All ages welcome.

Volunteer Project #3: Mulching of 3 playgrounds with wood chips. All ages welcome.

Volunteer Project #4: Replacing and installing benches near Nature Center. This project involves some lifting of heavy materials such as benches and bags of concrete. Appropriate for 13 and up.

Volunteer Project #5: Clean and paint benches by concession stand. Appropriate for 13 and up.

Volunteer Project #6: Assembling, staining and installing of small lending libraries. This project requires with some lifting of heavy materials. Knowledge of how to use basic tools required. Appropriate for 13 and up.

Volunteer Project #7: Potters Point clean-up. This project requires being able to carry garbage bags of debris. Appropriate for 13 and up

Volunteer Project #8: Boat launch clean-up on Spiers Falls Road. This project requires picking up garbage. Adults only

This hike is one of our most strenuous here at Moreau. We will be hiking 0.9 miles up to the beautiful view of Moreau Lake. This is a steep hike and towards the end it gets a bit rocky. Bring plenty of water and a snack or lunch to eat at the overlook. Registration is required with 24 hours advanced notice, please call 518-793-0511. Please meet and pay at the park office, $1 for 62+ and children, $2 for everyone else. Rating: Expert

A Park Educator will lead this hike through part of the woods over at Lake Bonita to Lake Ann. This is a bit of a longer hike but on rather flat land with some ups and downs. This hike will take us about 2.5 miles one way to a beautiful bog. There is a lean to at Lake Ann that we can stop and have lunch at. Make sure to bring some water.
