22nd Regiment of Foot Button - No troops from the British 22nd Regiment of Foot participated in the battle of Fort Montgomery. In August 1775, however, American forces captured a shipment of 500 coats meant for the 22nd. These coats were issued to American troops, possibly after being dyed brown. Apparently, some were being worn by defenders of Fort Montgomery.
