Counterfeit British Half Pennies - Money was scarce during the Colonial period, and all kinds of coins were accepted, including Spanish reals made in Mexico. Counterfeit coins were common; the two found at Fort Montgomery have errors on front and back and are heavier than the genuine British half penny.
