Lake Taghkanic State Park
The Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association hosts a monthly stargazing party in the West Beach parking lot. Bring your own telescopes and binoculars or use those provided by our members. You will be asked to provide your license plate number and make/model car, so Park Management and Police have a record of who will be in park after hours. Registration: RSVP is required at least one day beforehand.

Tickets available on June 18 at 10 am Peer into the cosmos with Vinny Coulehan of the Rockland Astronomy Club. View the night sky through a telescope and observe the craters on the moon in detail. Plus, capture images of the moon on your phone using a special attachment on the telescope! Max: 20 people. Cost: $4. Register here.

Rockefeller State Park Preserve
Tickets available on June 18 at 10 am. Experience the Preserve after dark! Join Shayla, Hailey, and Dave for a 4-mile hike on carriage roads lit by moonlight. We walk at a brisk pace and there will be hills; some hiking experience is recommended. Leashed dogs are welcome. Max: 40 people. Cost: $4. Register here.

Join a park educator on a beginner hike around Moreau Lake. If the clouds cooperate, we'll get to enjoy the splendor of the full moon rising above the mountains! This hike is family friendly and well-behaved dogs on a 6 foot or shorter leash are welcome. $1 per child, $5 per adult is payable by cash or check at the office upon your arrival. Calling all night owls! The Albany Area Amateur Astronomers will have telescopes to give you a tour of the night sky during this free program held at Cherry Plain State Campground. Enter via the main entrance and follow signs to the program location by the beach. Please drive slowly in the park at night. All ages. Free program. No registration. Following Saturday is the Rain Date.
