Montauk Point State Park will host a series of walks to observe wintering seals. Beginning in December and continuing through March 2019, a State Park naturalist will lead visitors on a leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Binoculars are recommended.

The walk is approximately 3 miles long and will take 2-3 hours to complete. Participants are asked to please dress appropriately, wear footwear appropriate for hiking, and meet at the Montauk Point Lighthouse Grill and concession stand at least 10 minutes prior to the start time.

To make reservations and/or for more information, please call (631) 668-5000 ext. 200. Program fees are $4.00 per person.Seal program dates and times are as follows:

Jones Beach State Park will be offering a series of walks to see wintering seals January through March. Meet at the Jones Beach Nature Center, West End, where a State Park Naturalist will lead visitors on an hour and a half leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable footwear for hiking. Binoculars are recommended. Space is limited. Program fee is $4.00 per person. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please call and cancel so that others may have the opportunity to attend.
