Little Falls History with Patricia Stock

Little Falls Historian Patricia Stock will join us for a lively discussion about the history of that canal community. Stock is a very active member of her community. She organizes numerous annual events, including Little Falls Canal Days Parade and Car Show - for more than 35 years. She has served as City of Little Falls Historian for the last nine years and is the director with the Little Falls and Herkimer County historical societies. Stock received the Woman of Distinction award from Senator Walczyk in 2023. Join us for a brief Friends of Schoharie Crossing meeting followed by a wonderful presentation. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available. Inside the Enders House - adjacent to the Visitor Center on Schoharie Street.

Passing the Music Down

Susan Casler will present a workshop for children combining reading, old time fiddling, making an egg shaker and the joy of marching and playing to live music. The workshop will feature the book Passing the Music Down by Sarah Sullivan, which tells the story of a little boy named Jake learning fiddle from the esteemed Melvin Wine. This will be interspersed with the fiddle tunes of local fiddle master Victor Kibler. Family Friendly Kids event. Free and open to the public.

Check out these great musical performances! * August 16th - we welcome Zorbas Trio opening for The Bluebillies. * August 23rd - join us as Dust Bowl Faeries open for the Nisky Dixie Cats. * August 30th - we offer Question of the Century opening for E.R.I.E.! BYO Chair, snacks, beverages and enjoy the afternoon along the canal and river. Free parking, free event. Right off the Empire State Trail/Canalway Bike Path on Queen Anne Rd. Thank you to the Friends of Schoharie Crossing. The Battle of Oriskany with Alexis Albright

Please join us for a presentation entitled "The Battle of Oriskany: Recollection & Remembrance," covering the history of the local Revolutionary War battle, its lasting legacy, and the significance of the upcoming 250th commemoration in 2027. The program will be presented by Alexis Werchowski Albright, historian for the Village of Oriskany. Albright has served as curator of the Oriskany Museum since 2018. She holds degrees in Liberal Arts and History from Mohawk Valley Community College and Clarkson University, respectively, specializing in genealogy and nineteenth century American history. Prior to returning home to Oriskany, she served as editor for the Tennessee Valley Genealogical Society in Huntsville, AL. Join us for a brief Friends of Schoharie Crossing meeting followed by a wonderful presentation. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available.
