Glimpse the seismic changes in Algonkian life
(daily living, customs of war, adoption/captivity, alliances, friendships and
marriages between Natives, Europeans and Africans) during the first half of the
18th century as the consequences of contact with new European neighbors in the
Northeast rippled outward. Compare and examine traditional items such as pelts
and daily objects made of stone, bone, wood and shell with those items acquired
through trade: a set of trade axes, metal knives, blankets, jewelry, clay pipes
and entirely different pelts. Program is

played an important role supplying iron implements vital to the construction of
military works like Fort Montgomery. Local master blacksmiths Alan and Ralph
will use 18th century tools and methods to fabricate items such as those
used here in 1777!

"This Man's A Spy!" is a concert of songs
inspired by the fateful encounter of American General Benedict Arnold and
British Major John André and their treasonous plot to deliver West Point to the
British. Had their plan succeeded, the British may have won the
Revolution. The songs are composed and performed by Carla Lynne Hall and
Jim Keyes. This lively event is appropriate for families, children ages 6+ and
history enthusiasts.
In Their Own Words, The Battle for Fort Montgomery

most dramatic battle sites! Drawing mainly on 1st hand accounts and archaeological
data, this ramble will bring to life the Revolutionary War attack on Fort Montgomery
using the words of the soldiers who were here and what they left behind.
Program will last about 2 hours and include rarely visited spots of the
battlefield.
