AIR Studio Class: Cartoneria Alebrije Workshop
Sunday, June 22, 2025 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
Erwin, our Caumsett AIR (artist in residence), will be hosting a cartoneria alebrije workshop, which is traditional Mexican paper mache. Participants must sign up for the class. The cost is $25 and the workshop is suitable for ages 12 and up. ABOUT THE ARIST: Erwin List Sanchez My work explores the vibrant tradition of Mexican cartonería within the context of my experience living outside of Mexico. I am fascinated by how culture travels and adapts, transforming and enriching itself in new environments. My creations are primarily inspired bythe natural world and its creatures. These fantastical animals, born from the intersection of my Mexican heritage and my present surroundings, become a reflection of my perceived environment. They embody the interconnectedness of our imaginations, demonstrating how we carry our cultural roots with us, allowing them to blossom and evolve in unexpected ways. Through cartonería, I sculpt the hybrid creatures of my imagination, where the familiar forms of Mexican folklore intertwine with the new realities of my present, creating a bestiary that is both rooted and reinvented. Sunset Music Series: Derek Adam
Friday, June 27, 2025 06:30 PM - 07:30 PM
Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
Derek Adam came on to the music scene with his own blend of guitar driven rock and country music. His anthemic songs are full of hooks and heartfelt lyrics that tell the story of his journey. Whether it's an autobiographical tale, guitar driven anthem, drinking song, or ballad, it's pure Derek. It all started for him in a small town in Upstate New York where Derek was surrounded by music at a young age. Guided by his parent's music collection, he developed a deep affection for classic rock and outlaw country. He picked up the guitar at the age of 10 and was quickly playing along to all his favorite tracks. He played in local bands throughout high school and gained a reputation as a formidable guitar player. By the time he graduated, it had become clear that music was his career choice. He went on to attended Crane School of Music where he became classically trained on the guitar and learned the fundamentals of writing music. After honing his skills for 4 years at the university, Derek set his sights on NYC. He moved down to the city and began his climb. He started from the ground up by networking through former college friends and making new acquaintances. Although a writer at heart, his live shows gained a strong following. It wasn't long before he became an in-demand performer on the local scene, building a steadily growing fan base. Click

Sunset Music Series: One Music International Ensemble
Sunday, September 21, 2025 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
The mission of OneMusic Project is to keep the intimate experience of chamber music alive and vibrant, and to foster a wider and more engaged audience of chamber music enthusiasts. Our core tactic is the production of concerts by a highly select group of internationally distinguished artists from Europe and the USA. The musicians are committed to bringing fresh and unique interpretations through their collaborations. Many of the musicians are composers themselves, carrying on the traditions of another century to the present day. But we believe that celebrating this timeless art takes more than a single performance; it should be an ongoing conversation. To that end, OneMusic Project will present concerts alongside master classes, open-to-public rehearsals, and discussions by cultural thinkers, scholars and artists. We aim to recreate chamber music's original settings, and present a multi-dimensional approach to musical insight that enables our audience to engage with artists and scholars to more deeply appreciate the work. We know that our creative journey will be inspiring to our audience and the artists alike. Click

Sunset Music Series: 1989
Sunday, September 28, 2025 04:00 PM - 05:00 PM
Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve
Based in New York City, 1989 is the ultimate 80s tribute band. The band is comprised of professional musicians who, combined, have played literally thousands of shows coast to coast. 1989's core group is four musicians but, if your budget allows, we have a wide range of other musicians to draw upon to expand the act.Rather than don outlandish costumes, 1989 favors a slick new wave image. Our sound is true to the originals, but we apply a modern sensibility to the songs (similar to what Weezer did on their Teal Album) to make the songs even more accessible to modern audiences. There are so many great 80s tunes and only so many that can be played in one night. Accordingly, we favor creating slightly shorter versions of many tunes so that we can play more of the songs you know by heart during any one show. If you have any favorites you'd like to ensure are performed, we're happy to accommodate. Finally, we're not just an 80s band. Upon client request, we're happy to craft our performance to include pop/rock hits from the 50s through today. We also love to play holiday shows and have a wide range of holiday songs in our repertoire. Click
