Rock the Park

The day kicks off at 3 p.m. with a local vendor showcase. Various merchants and organizations will be on hand to familiarize park patrons and local residents with the many great things that are available to them in the surrounding area. At 5:00 p.m. Park Naturalists will host an "Ask the Naturalist" program that will feature several interactive nature displays including a nature themed photo booth. At 6:00 pm at a sandcastle building contest will take place, sign up at the "Ask the Naturalist" table. At 6:00 p.m. it's time to "Rock the Park" with opening act and Allegany's own Artist in Residence, The Rightly So.

The music portion of this free event starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Quaker Beach area. So definitely come and Rock the Park! For more information on this event contact the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at 716-354-9101 ext 236 or check out our Facebook page.

Learn about the animals of the night and who makes what sound. Try to identify trees by their shape and texture of their bark. Look to the stars and moon, find out how they can help you navigate at night. Bring a head lamp (although we will try not to use it).

Park Staff will discuss nature photography, different types of camera's and basic photography tricks. Bring your camera because the group will be going on a short photo adventure and then have time to discuss pictures taken.
