Thacher State Park is home to several different species of bats. In summer bats are very active, leaving their roosts in the evening to hunt for insects. Join us and get active as we learn about bat behaviors through some hands-on activities and a bat-themed craft. Appropriate for children ages 6 and up. Call 518-872-1237 to register. Park entrance fee is $6 per vehicle.

Meet some wild neighbors up close and personal and learn about where and how they live. Wildlife rehabilitator Kelly Martin will introduce some of the birds of prey and other animals in her care. Learn what to do if you find an abandoned or injured animal and how to help prevent wildlife emergencies. Please bring a donation to support Kelly's work. Call 872-0800 for more information.

Hawk Migration Watch at Thacher Park Overlook

Thacher Park Overlook is a great place to watch for hawks flying south during their fall migration. Hawk Watch leader Will Aubrey will be on hand to answer questions, provide background material, compile statistics, and assist with hawk identification. Come see live raptors and learn about wildlife rehabilitation with Richele Ford. Refreshments will be available at the Overlook concession stand. On Sunday, September 11, raptor viewing and counting continues with Will Aubrey. Call 518-872-0800 for additional information.
