Eastern Ridge Hike

We will be starting this long hike at the Spring Overlook parking area. We will hike the short section of the Western Ridge trail to the Eastern Ridge trail. From there we will hike all the Eastern Ridge trail turning onto the Ridge Run Trail, then the Cottage Park trail for a short period then cutting back onto the Western Ridge trail to end back at the Spring Overlook parking. Please bring plenty of water, snacks and a lunch. Reservations are required with 24-hour advanced notice, please call our office at 518-793-0511. You will meet and pay at the park office. Ridge Run Hike

This moderate hike is about 3.5 miles round trip. The hike up to the ridge is a bit steep for about a mile but then the ridge is rather flat. This is a nice hike that also takes us past the overlook of Moreau Lake, where we can stop and have lunch. This is a pleasant hike that if we are lucky enough we may get a chance to see some wildlife. Reservations are required with 24 hours advanced notice, please call 518-793-0511. Baker Loop Hike

The Baker trail is always an enjoyable and challenging hike. We will summit the Palmertown Mtn range at a comfortable pace. Once we get to the Ridge we will make a loop from the Ridge Run trial to the Western Ridge trail and back down to the parking lot. This is a pleasant hike that if we are lucky enough we may get a chance to see some wildlife. This hike will be roughly 3 miles. Moreau Overlook to Ridge Run Hike

This hike is one of our most strenuous here at Moreau. We will be hiking 0.9 miles up to the beautiful view of Moreau Lake. This is a steep hike and towards the end it gets a bit rocky. Then we will continue to the Ridge Run trail and make a loop back to the overlook. There we will head back down the Moreau Overlook trail. Bring plenty of water and a snack or lunch to eat at the overlook. Registration is required with 24 hours advanced notice, please call 518-793-0511. Please meet and pay at the park office. We will read a short story or two based on the outdoors and then go for a short hike hoping to see some cool wildlife. The Park Naturalist will lead this paddle along the river pointing out signs of wildlife and other wonderful sights while teaching strokes and kayaking safety. Reservations are required with 24 hours advanced notice, 518-793-0511. We have kayak rentals for $15, you must be 18 years old age to rent. Please meet and pay at the park office.

Come to the monthly meetings where we will discuss our next events and general members’ information. New members are always welcome. Meetings are held in the Nature Center.

Waterfall to Lake Ann Hike

This will be about a 5-mile hike with ups and downs, making this a nice, scenic loop. We will start at the Lake Bonita parking lot and head over to the Waterfall trail. From there we will hike the Western ridge trail to the Lake Ann trail. This will take us back to Lake Bonita where we will head back to the parking area. Program fees apply. This will be a long hike starting at Lake Bonita to the Lake Ann Trail to the Eastern Ridge trail all the way over to the Cottage park trail and down the mountain. A park naturalist will lead as we hike along this steep but short hike up to the Spring Overlook. This almost mile long trek one way is one of the favorites at the park. Harrelson and Daryl are our two resident terrestrial turtles that we care for here at the park.
