Meet at Upper Landing Park – 83 N. Water Street, Poughkeepsie. Movies Under the Walkway is back with free all-ages films screening outdoors in Upper Landing Park (83 N. Water Street, Poughkeepsie). No tickets or registration required. On August 10, enjoy Barbie! The park opens at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at approximately 8:30 p.m. Free parking is available at the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum and Poughkeepsie Train Station. Sunshine only, no rain dates. Bring your own blankets and chairs.

Meet at Walkway Over the Hudson – Either Entrance The Friends of the Walkway nonprofit organization is pleased to offer the opportunity to enjoy amazing Hudson Valley views after dark from 212 feet above the Hudson River at Walkway at Night. With the moon hanging high in the sky and the Mid-Hudson Bridge twinkling in the distance, there is truly nothing like a twilight evening on the World's Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge. Our friends from the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association will be on-bridge with telescopes to view the night sky (weather permitting). Everyone must reserve a ticket for entry at walkway.org/walkwayatnight. Walkway members are welcome to attend at no cost. Non-members can register for $5.

Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park
Meet at East Gate Plaza, Poughkeepsie. This presentation will tell the story of how the Poughkeepsie-Highland Railroad Bridge was the brainchild of Mayor Harvey Eastman and how that idea finally came to fruition in the late 1800s. It deals with Eastman's vision and the roadblocks he faced, and the laying of the cornerstone, which was a huge event for the time. The delay and eventual building of the bridge will be discussed as well as the final abandonment and rebuild. Finally, Jim will talk about his novel, The Poughkeepsie Murder, and its connection to the Walkway. Presented by James Bennett BFA, MFA, a Poughkeepsie artist and author. He has written over 30 books including two novels which incorporate local history and important landmarks. This event is free to attend and open to all.
