Join Carol Gracie author of Spring Wildflowers of the Northeast on a walk along the Iron Works Trail in Taconic State Park to learn about the histories, lore and cultural uses of many spring-blooming wildflower species. Family Fun at the Furnace

"Family Fun at the Furnace," a re-enactment of the life of a 19th century iron worker at the Copake Iron Works hosted by master storyteller Tom Lee. A hands-on demonstration of sand casting and an opportunity to watch a blacksmith at work will round out that day's program. We will meet in the parking area of the Historic Copake Iron Works (33 Valley View Road, Copake Falls, NY 12517).

Visit one of the most intact examples of 19th century industrial ironmaking in the northeast. Guided tours are available every Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (or by appointment) from May 27 to mid-November. Historic Copake Iron Works (33 Valley View Road, Copake Falls, NY 12517). Self-guided tours of the Iron Works Heritage Trail can be enjoyed every day, year-round. He will bring several different birds of prey and frogs and salamanders to the presentation so bring your camera and a lawn chair.
