Belmont Lake State Park
The NYS Department of Environmental Education and NYS Parks will be hosting the Spring Family Fishing Festival at Belmont Lake State Park on April 5th, 2025. Festival activities begin at 10 a.m. and are free of charge. A vehicle use fee of $8 will be in effect. Parking is free for Empire Pass holders. Activities include open fishing, fishing & casting instruction, fly-casting demonstrations, food vendors, and a fish cleaning station. DEC and local fishing clubs will host informational displays and loaner rods, and free bait will be available to participants. Children's activities include an inflatable obstacle course, fish printing, the "Spring Fling" casting contest, and hands-on educational displays by DEC and NYS Parks Environmental Educators. Children participating in the casting contest also have a chance to win prizes provided by DEC's I FISH NY Program. This event will be held rain or shine. The Spring Fishing Festival is designated as a Free Fishing Event, so the freshwater fishing license requirement for anglers ages 16 and older is suspended during the event. After 4 p.m., anglers need a valid NY State freshwater fishing license to legally fish. All fishing regulations will continue to apply.
