Awosting Falls Snowshoe Walk at Minnewaska

Monday, January 21, 2019 10:00 AM - 01:00 PM

The best prescription to cure cabin fever is to get outside and enjoy the wonders of winter. Get a taste of the cure and come join Laura Conner, Environmental Educator, for an approximately two-and-a-half mile-long snowshoe walk along the charming Awosting Falls Carriage Road. Leaving from the Peter’s Kill Area, our route will take us on a slight uphill grade past a towering rock formation and along the Peter’s Kill stream, before reaching our destination, the iconic 65 foot tall Awosting Falls. This program is recommended for physically fit adults and children older than eight years old. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 18. A limited number of snowshoes are available for participants to borrow for this program from the education department. Otherwise, snowshoes may be rented for this program from the Park for a fee of $5 per person. Early arrival is suggested if you would like to borrow snowshoes. If there is insufficient snow cover, this program will be offered as a hike. Meet at the Peter’s Kill Parking Area. Pre-registration is required by calling Minnewaska at 845-255-0752.
