Awosting Falls Winter Walk at Minnewaska

Sunday, December 22, 2024 10:00 AM - 01:00 PM

The best prescription to cure cabin fever is to get outside and enjoy the wonders of winter. Get a taste of the cure by joining Laura Conner, Environmental Educator, for an approximately two-and-a-half-mile-long walk along the charming Awosting Falls Carriage Road. Leaving from the Peter's Kill Area, our route will take us on a slight uphill grade past a towering rock formation and along the Peter's Kill stream, before reaching our destination, the iconic 65-foot tall Awosting Falls. If conditions are icy, participants are encouraged to bring micro spikes or other ice traction devices. They should also dress appropriately for the cold and bring snacks and water. Meet at the Peter's Kill Parking Area, 5080 Route 44/55, Gardiner, New York. Pre-registration is required by calling the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center at 845-255-0752.
