2025 First Day Cocoa & Cookie Stroll (Brook Rd Parking lot, 30 Brook Rd, Rochester, 14623)
Wednesday, January 1, 2025 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Genesee Land Trust invites people of all ages and abilities
to kick off the New Year with a special cocoa toast (bring mug) to celebrate the return of the fisher to Brookdale
Preserve. The fisher, a key member of the forest ecosystem, was once nearly
hunted to extinction but is now making a comeback thanks to conservation
efforts. This event will feature a stroll along the Genesee Valley Greenway
State Park trail, where you'll have the opportunity to search for signs of the
fisher while learning more about this fascinating tree-climbing critter. The hike is 2-4 miles round trip, with the option to
go up to 4 miles (2 miles to the scenic double-arched stone culvert, then 2
miles back). This family-friendly event allows participants to move
at their own pace and for as long or short as they like. Be a part of the statewide Martin Luther King Jr. Food
Drive by bringing a non-perishable food item. Accessibility: If you have a disability or medical
condition, contact Genesee Land Trust at info@geneseelandtrust.org for
assistance. An ADA porta potty and accessible parking are available. To register please click
