The Delicate Balance of Aquatic Ecology

Sunday, July 14, 2024 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Join us for an exploration of one of the most expansive aquatic ecosystems in the Preserve in this summertime follow-up to our spring program! The Pocantico River is a sensitive habitat that supports an abundance of wildlife but due to its large footprint, this ecosystem is subject to a broad range of threats. Get your hands dirty with naturalist, Josh DiPaola and educator, Kim Fendrich in this interactive program and see firsthand how our stewardship team evaluates this habitat by taking water samples, searching for aquatic insects, and considering the health of nearby trees as we explain how they are all connected. This program will involve a 2-mile round trip hike to the Pocantico River and back. Max: 20 people. Appropriate for all ages. Cost: $4. Parking: $6 per vehicle. Register here.
