War of 1812 North American Grand Tactical

Friday, July 24, 2020 until Sunday, July 26, 2020

Spread the word! The Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site staff and volunteers announce the site will host hundreds of re-enactors, watercraft, musicians, living history specialists, and historians during the annual War of 1812 North American Grand Tactical, set for the weekend of July 24, 25 & 26, 2020.

Not the first time for Sackets Harbor! In summer 2010, the Sackets Harbor community hosted the North American War of 1812 Grand Tactical, drawing over 400 re-enactors, their water craft, numerous distinguished US and Canadian historians and authors. Thousands flocked to that weekend event in the village, located on the eastern end of Lake Ontario.

Sackets Harbor, ranked by the National Park Service as one of the top sites of importance in the war, features an expansive pristine battleground which now includes 24-acre Horse Island, key land in the 29 May 1813 Second Battle of Sackets Harbor. Long recognized for its role in the war, the 200th anniversary Bicentennial observance drew significant numbers for three summers to re-enactments, lecture series, and period music performances. Two granite monuments, dedicated to both US and Crown Forces, remain visible reminders of the Bicentennial observance.
