High Bridge (and more!) Tour
Saturday, June 14, 2025 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
The Old Croton Aqueduct System brought the first consistent fresh water to New York City starting in the 1840's. On this tour, we will be able to enjoy the views, history and marvel at the engineering feat completed in 1848. Optional tours of the nearby High Bridge Chamber and Water Tower will be available that da as well as the 260-year-old Morris-Jumel Mansion (Manhattan's oldest house) at the conclusion of the walk. This free, easy, 3 miles/hours tour (optional tours would add to time, if taken) will meet near the entrance to the Morris-Jumel Mansion, 65 Jumel Terrace, NYC. We will approach the Bridge via the Aqueduct Trailway, which leads from W. 158th x Edgecombe Avenue to the High Bridge. The walk from the Mansion to the High Bridge and back is on flat terrain. The tour may be rescheduled if weather does not cooperate. Required: preregistration.
