Situated in the heart of the Hudson Valley, the winter park is nestled in the 16,000 acre Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park. Fahnestock Winter Park offers cross country skiing, snowshoeing and sledding/ tubing. We have 20 km of machine groomed ski trails and an extensive network of blazed snowshoe trails. Trails are groomed for both Skate and Classic Skiing. We have rental equipment for Skate Skiing , Classic Skiing, Snowshoes, Sledding Tubes and tow behind skier baby polks. Equipment is available for all ages and ability levels. The Park features a Concession stand with hot food and beverages, snacks and cold drinks. Seating is available indoors or outside around the firepit. Restrooms and changing rooms are available.
The Winter Park is located at an elevation of 1,100 feet which helps capture addition snow during storms. Along with a forested northwest trail system, this helps maintain a good snow base. There is a great variety of terrain which caters to all ability levels. Check out our detailed trail map in Map section. Beginners and Families find the park particularly enjoyable because it offers lots of easy terrain to ski on near the lodge. Trails snake away from the lodge offering lots of intermediate and advanced terrain that will challenge all skier levels . When ice conditions permit we groom ski trails on both upper and lower Canopus lakes which skiers of all ability levels really like. 3 snowshoe trails cater to beginner, intermediate and advanced snowshoers. Children and adults love our fast, groomed sledding hill adjacent to the parking lot.
