ALERT - Please note, the area of the Catharine Valley Trail from Smith Road going south will be closed until further notice.
This year round recreation trail provides visitors the opportunity to experience the scenic beauty and historic charm of the glacially-carved valley south of Seneca Lake. Following abandoned railroad and canal towpath corridors, the trail passes through a variety of wildlife habitats. The compact stone-dust trail surface accommodates walking, bicycling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Currently six miles of the trail is available for use. When construction is complete the trail will be twelve miles long and extending from the Village of Watkins Glen to Horseheads.
Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet. Not allowed in bathing areas. Current rabies certificate is required.

-At the Mark Twain State Park at the Domes – Turn on Huck Finn Road just off of Rte. 14. Follow Huck Finn Road up and around to the parking lot. We meet in the SW corner of the lot. Workers will be on hand to meet and greet you. We will have a meeting at 9:10 to get workers assigned to groups. The work at this area involves continuing to clear and build nature trails through a beautiful area of Mark Twain State Park. This area will soon become the southern trailhead for the Catharine Valley Trail.
