Bonavista Hunting Rules & Regulations

Mandatory Permit Change -Effective Immediately

Due to recent New York State Parks Statewide hunting regulation modifications, hunters will now be required to obtain a mandatory New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Annual Hunting Permit. This permit will be available only at the Sampson State Park Office during regular office hours. Hunters will only be allowed to hunt at Bonavista after being issued a hunter permit.

You will be allowed to sign in and hunt one time because of the new regulation. After the one time grace period you will be required to obtain your hunting permit from the Sampson State Park Office and only from the State Park Office. No online or other versions will be considered valid. You must carry this permit with you at all times while hunting on Bonavista State Park property.

Safety zones and restricted areas are posted to ensure the safety of other park patrons and regional personnel. Signs will be posted at all parks during hunting season to notify patrons of this activity. Handguns will not be permitted in any of the parks. No trapping is allowed.
