Allegany State Park - Red House Area
Join us as we explore the woods and various points of interest at Allegany State Park. Park Naturalists will lead interpretive snowshoe treks or hikes (even if there is no snow) on Tuesday evenings at 4:30 PM.
Witness a breath-taking winter sunset, hike along a quiet creek, visit a secret beaver pond, or a historic site. Meeting places and hikes will vary. Be sure to dress for the weather, bring a flashlight, water, a snack, and a sense of adventure. Need snowshoes? No problem, we have several pairs to rent for FREE during the program. Call to reserve snowshoes by 10:00 AM the day of each hike.

This opportunity is being
offered at 11:00 a.m. every Saturday in December (except Christmas Eve),
January, February, and March, weather permitting. It is designed for people who
are beginners, interested in trying snowshoeing as a new winter activity. Each
session will be run by a Sam's Point employee who will provide instruction on
how to properly wear and adjust the snowshoes, as well as work with you until
you are ready to head out on your favorite trail with confidence. The lesson
may last up to one hour. Snowshoes are available to rent for this program at a
discounted rate of $5 per person at the Sam's Point Visitor Center.

Fat Tire Bike Fun Rides

Allegany State Park - Red House Area
The Allegany State Park Environmental Education and Recreation Department and the Western New York Mountain Bike Association (WNYMBA) are excited to host another season of Fun Fat Bike Rides with the ride starting at 6:45 PM. Bring warm clothes, a helmet, a head light, and sense of adventure. Check in will be at Camp Allegany. Although pre- registration is not required, if you are interested in borrowing a bike for the evening, please call (716) 379-6939, as bike availability is limited.
The 5–8-mile fun ride is for all levels and will last up to 2 hours, depending on the weather. Riders will wind through the Red House area of the park. If there is no snow, any bike is welcomed.

Grafton Lakes State Park
Grafton Lakes State Park
will host a snowmobile ride led by the Grafton Trail Blazers on Saturday,
February 18th, 2023. Pre-registration encouraged. Spots are limited. The event
is free of charge and trail rides will start at 10:00am and leave every 10
minutes. Own sled and equipment required. The guided group ride will travel
approximately 65-mile round trip from Grafton Lakes State park to Cherry Plain
State Park and back. The ride will take approximately 4 to 5 hours and will
travel through trails maintained by The Grafton Trail Blazers and their
neighboring club, Black River Raiders. The trails consist of old log roads and
seasonal roads that are closed to automotive traffic during winter months. Each
group will be led by an experienced rider who is knowledgeable of the trails.
There will be a stop at a food truck, cash only. All participants should arrive
30 minutes early with a full tank of fuel and snowmobile that is registered and
insured in NY State. As snowmobilers we all know the weather can be cold so
please dress appropriately. For more information about NYS laws and regulations

This is a volunteer led ride, as always when riding on the trails, you are

activities! Continual demonstrations of three different maple sugaring
techniques will be going on, including Iroquois stone boiling, iron pot fire
pit boiling, and the use of a modern evaporator. Hourly walks led by park
naturalists will highlight maple tree identification, how to tap a tree, and
more! Pancake breakfasts will be available for purchase thanks to the Friends

Drop-In Snowshoe Lessons at Sam’s Point Preserve

Minnewaska State Park Preserve: Sam's Point Area
This opportunity is being
offered at 11:00 a.m. every Saturday in December (except Christmas Eve),
January, February, and March, weather permitting. It is designed for people who
are beginners, interested in trying snowshoeing as a new winter activity. Each
session will be run by a Sam's Point employee who will provide instruction on
how to properly wear and adjust the snowshoes, as well as work with you until
you are ready to head out on your favorite trail with confidence. The lesson
may last up to one hour. Snowshoes are available to rent for this program at a
discounted rate of $5 per person at the Sam's Point Visitor Center.
