Lorenzo State Historic Site
Each year Lorenzo host a speaker in honor of National Historic Preservation month. Join us as we welcome the President and Secretary of the New York State Covered Bridge Society, Wayne and Karen Marshfield for their discussion of our state's 34 remaining covered bridges. The Marshfield's will take us on a fascinating journey from the oldest in the country, Hyde Hall Covered Bridge built in 1825 in Cooperstown, to the newest in the state, Cannon Covered Bridge, built in 2022 in Wyoming County, Western New York! Admission is free.

This year we celebrate the Friends of Lorenzo's 50th anniversary and 42 years of continuous support of the restoration and maintenance of our 1914 Ellen Shipman designed garden. Enjoy an outdoor scavenger hunt for kids of all ages, find out more about the Friends and their Garden Gala fundraiser, learn about NYS Parks 2025 Wellness Challenge, and tour the Mansion. Guides will be on hand in the garden and mansion to share the history and answer questions. Event admission and Mansion tours are free.

At 9:00 AM join LCH for the annual Parade of Hounds through Cazenovia. Signifying the start of the official "hunt" season, it begins at the village green on Emory Ave., next to Sullivan and Albany Streets, around the corner by the Brae Loch and on to Lorenzo. Following the parade there will be the traditional Blessing of the Hounds on the front lawn of Lorenzo (approximately 9:30AM). Admission is free.

Since relocating to the Lorenzo grounds in 1997, the Rippleton Schoolhouse has served as a place to "live history." Hundreds of Central New York pupils attend classes in our restored one-room schoolhouse each year.
