Walkway Connections (For Kids): Hudson River Fish Prints

Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park
Rubber fish prints have been carved out with native Hudson River species. Paint, stamp, and decorate your own fish painting at this fun, free Walkway Connections event on Saturday, July 26 from 7-8 p.m. at the Ulster Welcome Center (87 Haviland Road, Highland). Led by Amy Oblitas Rojas and Jackie Brooks, both educators at the Norrie Point Environmental Center. They are involved with both the Department of Environmental Conservation and the Student Conservation Association. All Walkway Connections events are free to attend with no RSVP required.

Movies Under the Walkway

Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park
Movies Under the Walkway is back with free all-ages films screening outdoors in Upper Landing Park (83 N. Water Street, Poughkeepsie). No tickets or registration required. The park opens at 7 p.m. and the movie begins at approximately 8:30 p.m. Free parking is available at the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum and Poughkeepsie Train Station. Sunshine only, no rain dates. Bring your own blankets and chairs.

Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park
Friends of the Walkway is pleased to offer the opportunity to enjoy amazing Hudson Valley views after dark from 212 feet above the Hudson River at Walkway at Night. With the moon hanging high in the sky and the Mid-Hudson Bridge twinkling in the distance, there is truly nothing like a twilight evening on the World's Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge. Our friends from the Mid-Hudson Astronomical Association will be on-bridge with telescopes to view the night sky (weather permitting). Reserve your ticket for entry at walkway.org/walkwayatnight.

On Friday, August 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie, take a shot at creating seed bombs to support native pollinators, bird species, or small mammals at this Walkway Connections event for kids! Let's get our hands in soil and bomb this thing! Presented by Emily Ega, an educator with a passion for sustainable living and supporting local ecosystems. Ega currently focuses her work on Urban Avian Education while enjoying hobbies centered around art, activism, and volunteering. She a firm believer in small steps making big leaps! All Walkway Connections events are free to attend with no RSVP required.

Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation invites the community to Walkway Over the Hudson for Lights Across the Hudson, a luminary event celebrating those we have lost. Join us for this spectacular tribute on Friday, August 8 from 7-9:30 p.m. at Walkway Over the Hudson, which will shine brightly as thousands of glowing luminaries light the way in memory of loved ones. Featuring music, food, and inspirational readings. This event is FREE and open to all. Whether you're honoring a loved one or simply looking to be a part of this community remembrance, everyone is welcome to attend and share in the spirit of togetherness.

Walkway Connections: Connecting People With Nature

Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park
Scenic Hudson's River Cities Program collaborates with community members, municipalities, and partner organizations to deepen relationships between community and nature in Kingston, Newburgh, and Poughkeepsie. This Walkway presentation will explore the organization's work in Poughkeepsie, which is rooted in healthy urban ecosystems and vibrant public spaces that support community wellbeing. On Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. at the East Gate Plaza in Poughkeepsie, Julia Raskin, Senior Project Manager on the River Cities Team, and Caroline Alsup, Headquarters Project Manager, will discuss the organization's planning and programming work throughout the city, with a focus on the new Northside Hub on Parker Avenue and efforts to connect surrounding neighborhoods with the Fall Kill Creek. This event is free to attend and appropriate for all ages. All Walkway Connections events are free to attend with no RSVP required.
