Drop-In Snowshoe Lessons at Sam’s Point Preserve

This opportunity is being offered at 11:00 a.m.
every Saturday in December, January, February, and March, weather permitting.
It is designed for people who are beginners, interested in trying snowshoeing
as a new winter activity. Each session will be run by a Sam's Point employee,
who will provide instruction on how to properly wear and adjust the snowshoes.
They'll also work with you until you are ready to head out on your favorite
trail with confidence. The lesson may last up to one hour. Snowshoes are available
to rent for this program at a discounted rate of $5 per person at the Sam's
Point Visitor Center.

Join Becca Howe-Parisio, Environmental Educator, for this
three-mile loop walk to view the magnificent Lake Maratanza. On our way to
the Lake, we will stop at the Sam's Point Overlook, where we will discover some
features left by the last glaciers. Once we reach the
Lake, we will discuss the geologic process that formed this water body.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18.
Infants and young children must be in a secure carrier or jogging-type stroller
designed for rough terrain for the duration of the hike. The total number of participants for this program
is limited to 20 individuals. Meet at the Sam's Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration
is required by signing up via

14th Annual I Love My Park Day at Minnewaska and Sam’s Point

Minnewaska State Park Preserve: Sam's Point Area
This event is part of more than 100 cleanup, improvement and
beautification events happening statewide. I Love My Park Day is an exciting
statewide event to improve and enhance New York's State Parks and historic
sites and bring visibility to the entire state park system and its needs.
Volunteers will clean up park lands and beaches, plant trees and gardens,
restore trails and wildlife habitat, remove invasive species and work on
various site improvement projects. Specific events will be listed shortly. Call
the Lake Minnewaska Visitor Center at 845-255-0752 or the Sam's Point Visitor
