Learn about the Lichens of the Shawangunk Mountains at Sam’s Point
Sunday, May 11, 2025 02:30 PM - 04:00 PM
Join
lichen photographer and Department of Environmental Conservation Steward, John
Franklin, for a walk and talk on lichens, those intrepid little organisms that
we see growing on trees and rocks throughout the Park Preserve. Prior to the
hike, John will share his collection of amazing, close-up, photographs of
lichens and actual samples of the colorful lichens found here. We will walk up
to two miles, stopping to discuss lichens along the way. Meet at the Sam's
Point Visitor Center. Pre-registration
for this program is not required, however, reservations to get into Sam's Point
on weekends are required. You can reserve a parking spot through Reserve
