Van Wyck’s Chocolate Haus
Saturday, March 22, 2025 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Did you know that chocolate played a crucial role in the
colony's revolution and in the overall foundation of our country – with the
epicenter here in the Hudson Valley? If not, please join us for our third
program, which
invites visitors to learn about this fascinating history,
while having 18th century chocolate beverage recipes prepared before
them as was done in the Chocolate Houses of the period. After preparation using
period equipment over a hearth fire, visitors will be invited to sample the
recipes (please note: recipes typically contain alcohol and/or dairy). This program was created by the late Paul Supley of
Ballston Lake, who dedicated his life to pursuing and sharing stories of the
Mohawk, Schoharie and Hudson Valleys. The Chocolate House will take place in
Crailo's hearth kitchen and will be led by 18th century living
historian Johanna Case, Schoharie County Historical Society Interpreter Nate
Hoffman, and Dan Beams, Curator at The Old Stone Fort Museum / SCHS. Fee for this program is $20.00 per person,
payable by cash or check. Space is limited, so please reserve your place by
calling Crailo at (518) 463-8738: deadline 3/20.
