If you crack open a conventional history book, you might get the impression that women played only a small part in making the world we live in today. In reality, we know that women have shaped history at every turn and at all levels.

Though often defined primarily by their relationships to powerful men or dismissed as "merely" concerned with domestic pursuits, women throughout the history of New York have been activists, farmers, entrepreneurs, scientists, educators, community leaders, and more.
