PARKS COMMISSIONER ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENTS TO REGIONAL STATE PARK COMMISSIONS

(Albany, New York March 25, 1998...) New York State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro today announced several appointments and reappointments to regional state park, recreation and historic preservation commissions.

Appointments to the 11 regional state park commissions are made by the governor and confirmed by the Senate. The Senate confirmed these appointments on March 17.

The appointments included:

  • Thomas Brady, of Great Valley, to serve as a member of the Allegany State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Mark G. Roberts, of Sidney, to serve as a member of the Central State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Edward F. Cox, of New York City, reappointed to serve as a member of the City of New York State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission. Cox also currently serves as the Chairman of the New York State Council of Parks.
  • Jeffrey E. Livingston, of New York City, to serve as a member of the City of New York State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Myra E. Mahon, of New York City, to serve as a member of the City of New York State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Cynthia C. Wainwright, of New York City, reappointed to serve as a member of the City of New York State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Barnabas McHenry, of New York City, reappointed to serve as a member of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission.
  • Samuel F. Pryor III, of Bedford Hills, to serve as a member of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. Pryor also serves as Chairman of the Westchester Land Trust.
  • Paulette Zalduondo-Henriques, of Mamaroneck, to serve as a member of the Saratoga-Capital District State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.
  • Thomas P. Morahan, of New City, to serve as a member of the Saratoga-Capital District State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.

"These individuals will serve as outstanding assets to our regional parks commissions," said Commissioner Castro. "I'm confident they will help us continue the outstanding progress we have made at our state parks and historic sites under the great leadership of Governor Pataki."
