Long Island State Park Golf Courses, some of the nation's most renowned public courses, are opening for the 2015 season, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) announced today.
"From the famously challenging Bethpage Black, to the sweeping fairways of Montauk, New York State Park golf courses have a decades-long history of hosting great competition and affordable fun," State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey said. "Now that warmer temperatures are on their way, we encourage those of all abilities to play and relax this season by experiencing the panoramic beauty of our unique and varied courses."
Bethpage State Park Golf Courses (Farmingdale, NY)
Typically open year-round, all Bethpage Golf Courses were closed over the winter months due to severe weather. The Blue, Yellow, Green and Red Courses are tentatively scheduled to reopen on Friday, April 3. The Black Course is tentatively scheduled to open Saturday, April 11.
The opening dates remain weather dependent, and reservations are not being accepted at this time. For updates, please call 516-249-0701.
Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course (Montauk, NY)
The Robert Trent-designed 18 hole, par 72 course at Montauk Downs State Park will open on Monday, April 6, weather permitting. Reservations can be made by calling: (631) 668-1234.
Sag Harbor State Park Golf Course (Sag Harbor, NY)
This 48.8-acre, 9-hole golf facility can be played as an 18-hole course, and is currently open, weather permitting. For more information, please call: (631) 725-2503.
Governor Alfred E. Smith / Sunken Meadow State Park Golf Course (Kings Park, NY)
Sunken Meadow State Park's three 9-hole courses are currently open, weather permitting. First tee times will be available at 8:00 a.m., with the first and last tee-off times changing as needed depending on daylight hours. For additional information, please call (631) 269-5351.
Robert Moses State Park Pitch and Putt Course (Babylon, NY)
The Pitch and Putt Course at Robert Moses State Park is tentatively scheduled to open Saturday, April 11. The course will open at 7:30 a.m., with the last tee two hours before sunset. For more information, please call: (631) 669-0449.

Changes in weather can impact operating schedules. Golfers are advised to call ahead with questions regarding course conditions.
The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation oversees 180 state parks and 35 historic sites, which are visited by 62 million people annually. Under Governor Cuomo's leadership, New York State is making a historic commitment to improving and expanding access to outdoor recreation. The Governor's NY Parks 2020 program is a multi-year commitment to leverage $900 million in private and public funding for State Parks from 2011 to 2020. The Governor's 2015-16 Executive Budget allocates $110 million toward this initiative.
