STATE PARKS ANNOUNCES 1998 SWIMMING SCHEDULE
(Albany, New York April 28, 1998...) Governor George E. Pataki and New York State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro today announced the 1998 swimming schedule at New York State Parks.
"Whether its Jones Beach State Park, the largest public bathing facility in the world, or our new facilities at Saratoga Spa State Park, we offer some of the best public beaches and swimming facilities in the world," said Governor Pataki.
Commissioner Castro said many state parks with beaches or pools have lifeguards posted for weekends only until mid-June, when daily operation begins.
"I'm looking forward to another fantastic season at state parks and I hope all New Yorkers come out and enjoy the fantastic recreational and outdoor facilities at our outstanding state parks," she said.
Vehicle entry is $5 at state parks with beaches and $4 at parks with no swimming beach. Swimming pool admission is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. The Empire Passport, which offers unlimited vehicle entry to state parks for one year, is available for $39. Passports can be purchased at parks or by calling 518-474-0456.
Editor's note: A schedule of opening dates by region for state park swimming facilities follows. Please note that some facilities offer weekend-only swimming at the start of the season.
