COMMISSIONER CASTRO ANNOUNCES REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR SARATOGA-CAPITAL STATE PARKS REGION

(Albany, New York May 12, 1998 ...) New York State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro today announced the appointment of Donald M. Kasprzak as the regional director for the Saratoga-Capital Parks Region.

Kasprzak, 41, of Plattsburgh, comes to state parks with years of management, community service and business experience. He will serve under Julie Stokes, who will have more time to spend as deputy commissioner for operations.

A former city alderman in Plattsburgh, Kasprzak owned and operated Family Golf Center Driving Range and L & M Discount Liquor and Wine in Plattsburgh.

"I am pleased that we have been able to make Don part of our team here in the Saratoga-Capital region," said Commissioner Castro. "I am confident he will do an outstanding job in overseeing our fantastic facilities here."

Kasprzak will oversee the 11 state parks and six historic sites within the region.

"There is no park system in the country that is as popular and outstanding as the state park system here in New York," he said. "I am so excited to be given this opportunity by Commissioner Castro and look forward to serving in this fantastic position."

Senator Ronald B. Stafford, also a Plattsburgh native, said he is confident Kasprzak will do a fine job in his new position.

"Don is a bright, energetic and dedicated administrator who will contribute to State Parks and the good work being done by Commissioner Castro," said Stafford.
