(Albany, New York May 12, 1998 ...) New York State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro announced today that a draft of the master plan and environmental impact statement for Castleton Island State Park is now available for public review.
Public hearings on the drafts will be held Monday, June 8, at 3 p.m. in Castleton Village Hall, 855 Main St., and at 7 p.m. in the Town of Schodack Municipal Building, 1777 Columbia Turnpike.
The draft plan for Castleton Island includes proposals for environmental resource protection, development of an access road and bridge, day use area development, boat launch construction and camp site development. The plan also proposes to designate a large portion of the park as part of the state Hudson River Estuary Sanctuary.
