SITE MANAGER NAMED FOR NEW WINDSOR CANTONMENT

(Albany, New York June 4, 1998 ...) New York State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro today announced the appointment of Michael J. Clark as historic site manager at New Windsor Cantonment and Knox's Headquarters State Historic Sites in Vails Gate.

"These are both significant Revolutionary War historic sites and I'm confident Mike will do an outstanding job as our new site manager," said Commissioner Castro. "We are extremely fortunate to have someone with the talent and national reputation that Mike Clark has earned."

Commissioner Castro said Clark has extensive experience in the living history programs offered at both sites, having served there for seven years as the interpretive programs assistant.

For the past 16 years, Clark has been an active member of the Brigade of the American Revolution, portraying a soldier in the Third New York Regiment, volunteering his services at federal, state, and private historic sites throughout the U.S. and Canada. Professionally he is active in the Association of Living History, the Northeast Council for Historic Archaeology and was a featured presenter at the annual Union of Spirits Conference for Historic Interpreters at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

In addition to overseeing routine operations at the two sites, Mr. Clark will continue to advance major new initiatives, such as the development of a website to promote the sites and a plan for the interpretation of Knox's Headquarters as an 18th century family estate and military residence.
