DRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENTS ARE BEING RELEASED FOR THREE IMPORTANT ACTIONS WITHIN STATE PARKS IN WESTERN NEW YORK

(Albany, New York, November 9, 1998 ...) State Parks Commissioner Bernadette Castro announced today that draft environmental impact statements are being released for three important actions within state parks in western New York.

The master plans are for Woodlawn Beach State Park in Hamburg and Joseph Davis State Park in Lewiston. A DEIS has also been completed for adaptive reuse of four buildings at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown.

"These reports contain some very exciting proposals for western New York," Commissioner Castro said. "We are looking forward to comments from our patrons on how we might these proposals even better for both people and the environment."

A public hearing is scheduled for Woodlawn Beach master plan on Monday, November 30, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Gateway Office Building located on Route 5 and adjacent to the Woodlawn Beach State Park.

The public hearing for the Joseph Davis State Park master plan will be held Tuesday, December 1, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium located at 4061 Creek Road in Youngstown.

Another public hearing at the Lewiston Porter High School will be held Wednesday, December 2, at 7 p.m. on the adaptive reuse proposal at Fort Niagara State Park.
