The Empire State Games, New York's Olympic-style competition for amateur athletes, is now using an online registration system for all sports.
To register, athletes are required to go to http://www.empirestategames.org. and select Summer Games, and follow the easy steps. The new system will serve scholastic, open and masters divisions. The website also lists eligibility rules, tryout dates, times and locations, and sport information.
The 31st Empire State Games are in Binghamton this year, and will feature 28 sports and more than 6,000 athletes in scholastic, open and masters divisions. Tryouts to make the finals in Binghamton begin early in May in each of the six Games' regions. Interested athletes, who are New York State residents, must register online and attend a tryout in their region.
The Empire State Games is a program of the New York state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. For more information, check the Games' website at www.empirestategames.org or call, 518-474-8889.
