Park operations, in coordination with the agency’s Division of Environmental Stewardship and Planning, will handle this situation promptly and effectively. Winter

Vehicle access in the winter months is limited. No motors of any kind are permitted on the lake year-round.

Beach Parking

Campers, Motorhomes, Trailers or horse trailers down at the beach on weekends and holidays Memorial Day-Labor Day.

Pet Policy

A maximum of two pets are allowed in campsites and day use areas unless prohibited by sign or directive. Pets are to be supervised at all times and either be crated or on a leash not more than 6-feet in length. Proof of rabies inoculation shall be produced if requested by staff. Pets are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools and spray-grounds or guarded beaches (this does not apply to service animals).

2024 Geocache challenge

Moreau Lake State Park's lake lies amid hardwood forests, pine stands, and rocky ridges. Shady groves of trees shelter picnic grounds and a pavilion overlooking the lake. Wooded campgrounds are quiet and secluded, offering facilities for group campers, as well as tent and trailer sites. Two pavilions, each with a 100-120 person capacity and a 20'x30' tent which can accommodate up to 50 people, may be reserved on a daily basis. The sandy beach, nature, hiking and cross-country ski trails, opportunities for boating, fishing and ice fishing, and proximity to the Saratoga Springs and Lake George areas make the park attractive to visitors.

Please note: We do not allow Campers, Motorhomes, Trailers or horse trailers down at the beach on weekends and holidays Memorial Day-Labor Day.

Located on the beach road is our vacation rental. The Lake Shore Cottage provides everything from a refrigerator, stove, dishes, and utensils to a screened porch, bathroom with shower, bedding, pillows, and a cozy fireplace.

See calendar of events for program information. Programs are weather permitting and are subject to change. Please call the park office to confirm event date, time and location. There is a program fee of $5 per adult and $1 per child.

Pavilion Information
Moreau Lake has three pavilions/tents. Prices range from $100 to $150 and can accommodate 50 to 120 people. Check availability at ReserveAmerica.com.

Shelter and Tent Rental Information

Moreau Lake State Park has 7 accessible campsites intended for use by persons with disabilities. At least one member of a camping party must be in need of the accommodation. The sites will support power equipment for those with a legitimate medical need (documentation from a physician is required). Please contact the Park Manager for more information at 518-793-0511.

State Park operates year-round. Park hours and facility operations (including swimming) are subject to change. Patrons are encouraged to contact the park directly to confirm operating hours before traveling.
Vehicle access in the winter months is limited, weather permitting.
Moreau Lake State Park Nature Center: May 27th - September 4th, 10:00am-3:00pm (subject to change). The nature center is also open on weekends, school vacations, and at patron requests.

There is a 1.5 mile hike to the cabins along untreated surfaces of varying conditions starting October 12th. Please contact park office for more information.

The Moreau Lake BCA is within Moreau Lake State Park. Moreau Lake BCA is a stopover site for Neotropical migratory songbirds especially forest dwelling migrants during both spring and fall migrations. The site supports a diversity of birds associated with upland forest. It is also a significant wintering site for the state and federally threatened Bald Eagle and regularly supports state threatened Pied-billed Grebe (possible breeder) and Northern Harrier (spring and fall migration); and state species of special concern Cooper's Hawk (possible breeder) and Red-shouldered Hawk (probable breeder).

Deer hunting is permitted in a limited area in season. Moreau Lake State Park follows the dates of the New York State hunting seasons.

Hunting is not permitted within 500 feet of any building, road, playground, or parking lot, and all trails are considered safety zones where hunting is not allowed.

Homeschool Pop-Up-Whose Nest Is That

Join an educator at the nature center to play a matching game of whose nest belongs to who. From birds, to mice, to squirrels and even fish, all sorts of animals make nests, and we will try it out too! We are encouraging homeschool groups to attend, but it is open to the public. Geared toward ages 6+, siblings welcome. The cost is 1$ per child (cash or check). Please reserve your spot in advance by calling the office at 518-793-0511. Join an ACA certified instructor on a very lovely and learner friendly paddle around Moreau Lake. This Kayak trip will not only allow for some beginner paddling with some tips and tricks you will also be on the water with one of the parks environmental educators. The educator will be sure to use all the teachable moments that mother nature offers to share some of the lesser-known secrets of Moreau lakes animal friends-. This program has limited spaces, please call to reserve your spot by calling 518-793-0511. This program is $5 per person, $15 per person needs to rent a kayak. NYS Parks Centennial Challenge missions: Seasonal Beauty Visit the same place in a state park or historic for all four seasons of the year. Wiggly Wanderers

Wiggly Wanderers is a casual and fun program that is offered to walking toddlers, carriable babies and their caregivers. This will be a beginner's hike/wander series for toddlers who are ready to move and caregivers who are willing and able to baby wear and/or carry their toddler if their legs get too tired. We will not plan too much distance walking and we will rely on teachable moments to carry us through these experiences. Strollers will not work for these programs. While you do not need to attend each week, we will continue to build our toddlers hiking skills as well as their caregivers' confidence taking the children into the woods to explore. This event does not have sign ups, please come if you can. We meet at the nature center parking lot. $1 per child. For any questions call 518-793-0511. Trail Steward Meeting

A meeting to introduce the trail steward program to newcomers. The duties of a trail steward include walking the trails of Moreau Lake State Park to identify and report maintenance needs, light trail maintenance including cutting back branches with supplied hand saws and loppers and hanging trail signs when necessary. This meeting will provide crucial information on what to look for on the trails. Established trail stewards are welcome to come, but it is not mandatory. This meeting is free.
