Moreau Lake State Park's lake lies amid hardwood forests, pine stands, and rocky ridges. Shady groves of trees shelter picnic grounds and a pavilion overlooking the lake. Wooded campgrounds are quiet and secluded, offering facilities for group campers, as well as tent and trailer sites. Two pavilions, each with a 100-120 person capacity and a 20'x30' tent which can accommodate up to 50 people, may be reserved on a daily basis. The sandy beach, nature, hiking and cross-country ski trails, opportunities for boating, fishing and ice fishing, and proximity to the Saratoga Springs and Lake George areas make the park attractive to visitors.
Rowboats, kayaks, and paddle boards are available for rent Memorial Day - Labor Day. In the winter, snowshoes are available for rent and ice skates are available free of charge.
Please note: We do not allow Campers, Motorhomes, Trailers or horse trailers down at the beach on weekends and holidays Memorial Day-Labor Day.

Key BCA Criteria:
- Migratory concentration site
- Diverse species concentration site
- Species at risk site
The Moreau Lake BCA is within Moreau Lake State Park. Moreau Lake BCA is a stopover site for Neotropical migratory songbirds especially forest dwelling migrants during both spring and fall migrations. The site supports a diversity of birds associated with upland forest. It is also a significant wintering site for the state and federally threatened Bald Eagle and regularly supports state threatened Pied-billed Grebe (possible breeder) and Northern Harrier (spring and fall migration); and state species of special concern Cooper's Hawk (possible breeder) and Red-shouldered Hawk (probable breeder).
Download a copy of the BCA map.
Deer hunting is permitted in a limited area in season. Moreau Lake State Park follows the dates of the New York State hunting seasons.
Hunting is not permitted within 500 feet of any building, road, playground, or parking lot, and all trails are considered safety zones where hunting is not allowed.
Spring Equinox Forest Bathing
Tuesday, March 19, 2024 10:00 AM
Moreau Lake State Park
The spring
equinox will kick off our weekly forest bathing once again! Coined shinrin-yoku
in Japan in the 1980's, forest bathing is the ecotherapeutic practice of
spending time immersed in nature, absorbing it with all of your senses. The
physiological and psychological benefits last for days afterward with the
additional benefit of a new appreciation of our precious woodland and its
inhabitants. This is a beginner-rated walk along the Nature Trail with long
pauses to sit and enhance our awareness of our surroundings and it is
approximately a 2-hour program. A small mat is beneficial to ensure a dry seat.
This program is limited to those age 14 and up. Pay $5 per person (cash or
check) at the office upon arrival. Registration in advance by calling
518-793-0511. NYS Parks

Starting Seeds and Setting Intentions
Tuesday, March 19, 2024 02:00 PM
Moreau Lake State Park
Of many
traditional ways to acknowledge the spring equinox some of my favorites include
celebrating the re-awakening of the earth with new growth, and stating my
intentions for the new season. This program combines both- we will write our intentions
on paper and plant them in the soil we place our seeds in. All supplies are
provided- you are welcome to bring seeds to share! The program fee is $5 (cash
or check). Please reserve your spot in advance by calling the office at

Eagle Watch
Wednesday, March 20, 2024 08:30 AM
Moreau Lake State Park
Join a Park
Educator on a convoy-style journey along the Hudson River to try to spot our
local Bald Eagles. We will be getting in and out of vehicles at a few locations
and, with a little luck, viewing the eagles through binoculars and a scope so
make sure to bring your hat and gloves! If you have binoculars bring them, we
do have a couple of pair to pass around as well. $5 program fee payable at the
office upon your arrival (cash or check). To reserve your spot call
518-793-0511. This program
is part of NYS Parks Centennial Challenge! For
the Birds, Go birdwatching at any of our state parks and historic sites.

Kneehigh Naturalist
Thursday, March 21, 2024 10:00 AM
Moreau Lake State Park
Geared
toward children aged 2-5, (siblings welcome) Knee-high Naturalist is a fun
introduction to nature. We meet in the Nature Center where we begin by reading
a book or two and then take a short walk together outdoors, keeping our eyes
open for animal tracks, shells, feathers, and other signs of the natural world
around us. Dress for the weather. The cost is $1 per child (cash or check) at
the office upon arrival. Please register at least 24 hours in advance at

Wiggly Wanderers
Friday, March 22, 2024 09:30 AM
Moreau Lake State Park
Wiggly wanderers is a casual and fun program that is offered to
walking toddlers, carriable babies and their caregivers. This will be a
beginner's hike/wander series for toddlers who are ready to move and caregivers
who are willing and able to baby wear and/or carry their toddler if their legs
get too tired. We will not plan too much distance walking and we will rely on
teachable moments to carry us through these experiences. Strollers will not
work for these programs. While you do not need to attend each week, we will
continue to build our toddlers hiking skills as well as their caregivers'
confidence taking the children into the woods to explore. This event does not
have sign ups, please come if you can. We meet at the nature center parking lot. $1 per child. For any questions call 518-793-0511. NYS Parks
