Hallock State Park Preserve offers a total of 225 acres. Hallock State Park Preserve is a shorefront park preserve that offers nearly one mile of pristine beachfront on the North Shore of Long Island along the Long Island Sound.

Hiking, nature walks, and bird watching are available. Development of the remainder of the preserve is in the planning stages and may include formal trails, environmental education, and activities appropriate for a park preserve.

Trail Guide
Print and fold to create a guide for an individual or family walk at Hallock State Preserve. If you cannot print 2-sided, the two sheets can be printed and stabled together, back-to-back, before folding. The markers follow the Yellow Trail, which starts in the northwest corner of the upper parking lot. A park map is also available on this site.

Hours of Operation

  • April - October hours are 10:00am - 6:00pm
    November - March hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm

    Open Holidays: New Year's Day, MLK Day (January18), Washington's Birthday (February 15), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Take an hour-long hike with Atlantic Marine Conservation Society's Education Coordinator, Lindsey Reisz through Hallock State Park Preserve. The guided walk will explore the various habitats in the Preserve, search for wildlife, and discuss the current environmental issues and what we can do to help.

Beach Walk and Clean Up

Hallock State Park Preserve
Join the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society for a walk and clean-up along the Preserve's beach on Long Island Sound.  Along the way, we will look for signs of local wildlife and pick up debris before it can harm marine life.  Beach clean-up supplies will be provided, but it is recommended to bring your own gloves.

Identifying Trees

An interesting collection of understory and canopy trees can be found at Hallock State Park. Join us on a short nature walk through the Preserve's trail system as we look at the leaves and bark in order to figure out the identities of these trees. Families are most welcome to join us for this fun educational walk.

Autumn Bird Walk - with southbound birds migrating through and over Long Island we can get a look at sparrows, hawks, vireos, confusing fall warblers and much more! Bring binoculars for a 2-mile jaunt through trails of the Preserve.
