Hallock State Park Preserve offers a total of 225 acres. Hallock State Park Preserve is a shorefront park preserve that offers nearly one mile of pristine beachfront on the North Shore of Long Island along the Long Island Sound.

Hiking, nature walks, and bird watching are available. Development of the remainder of the preserve is in the planning stages and may include formal trails, environmental education, and activities appropriate for a park preserve.

  • Open Wednesday - Sunday 

    April - October Hours are 10AM - 6PM 
    November - March hours are 8AM - 4PM

    Closed Mondays & Tuesdays

  • Parking fee is $8 per car. 

    Empire passport and Golden Park Program accepted.

Sonja Michaluk is a high school student, stream-watch water quality volunteer and environmental activist in her hometown of Hopewell, NJ. She is a recipient of the 2018 President's Environmental Youth Award, from the Department of Environmental Protection.

James will provide inside tips on accessing and hiking the most enjoyable trails in the area. His book The Must-See Hiking Destinations on Long Island is a best-seller at the Hallock State Park Preserve gift shop and may be purchased for $14.

Enjoy a walk through Hallock State Park Preserve as you learn to identify a variety of invasive plant species and understand why they are harmful to Long Island ecosystems. The walk will also cover established and experimental methods to control invasive species in a variety of settings. Dr. Andy Senesac is a North Fork resident and the Weed Science Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension. He is actively involved in several programs that address invasive species in the region.

Be part of the habitat restoration planning process for Hallock State Park Preserve. The Group for the East End will be hosting this presentation and discussion on the development of the habitat restoration and preservation plan for the Preserve. Funded by a grant from the Long Island Sound Study, the plan will help focus limited resources on the most effective ways to control invasive species and restore natural ecosystems in preserve's unique habitats

Learn about cetaceans (marine mammals) and their behavior off the shores of Long Island, from Atlantic Marine Conservation Society scientists. The discussion will include what you can do to help these beautiful animals survive in our local waters.

Participants ages 6 to 16 will receive a free Beach Stewardship backpack. A beach walk and clean-up will follow, weather permitting.
