Hallock State Park Preserve offers a total of 225 acres. Hallock State Park Preserve is a shorefront park preserve that offers nearly one mile of pristine beachfront on the North Shore of Long Island along the Long Island Sound.

Hiking, nature walks, and bird watching are available. Development of the remainder of the preserve is in the planning stages and may include formal trails, environmental education, and activities appropriate for a park preserve.

Trail Guide
Print and fold to create a guide for an individual or family walk at Hallock State Preserve. If you cannot print 2-sided, the two sheets can be printed and stabled together, back-to-back, before folding. The markers follow the Yellow Trail, which starts in the northwest corner of the upper parking lot. A park map is also available on this site.

  • Open Wednesday - Sunday 

    April - October Hours are dawn to dusk 
    November - March hours are dawn to dusk

    Open Holidays: New Year's Day, MLK Day (January 21), Washington's Birthday (February 18), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

    Closed Mondays & Tuesdays

Birds are in full migration to their southern homes and we will find and observe many different species that come through the Preserve on their journey south. Year-round bird residents also are about so bring binoculars to find our feathered friends. App. 2.5mile roundtrip walk.

Park at the upper parking lot unless otherwise noted, reservations required by calling (631) 315-5475. Limited to 20 participants, required face masks.

Identify some trees and shrubs found growing within the Preserve by looking at their leaves, bark, buds, seeds and sometimes colors, now that autumn is upon us. Learn the differences between the oaks, hickories and many other native tree species! Native shrubs too!
