Hallock State Park Preserve offers a total of 225 acres. Hallock State Park Preserve is a shorefront park preserve that offers nearly one mile of pristine beachfront on the North Shore of Long Island along the Long Island Sound.

Hiking, nature walks, and bird watching are available. Development of the remainder of the preserve is in the planning stages and may include formal trails, environmental education, and activities appropriate for a park preserve.

    April - October Hours are 10AM - 6PM 
    November - March hours are 8AM - 4PM

    Closed Mondays & Tuesdays

One of the most versatile and widespread carnivores, red foxes reside on Long Island and are distantly related to our beloved dogs. Often under-appreciated and neglected, foxes play a crucial role in Long Island’s natural environment

At 8:00 p.m., North Fork native, teacher and astronomer George Lomaga will present a lecture on the opportunity to view the largest planet in our Solar System at its closest approach to the Earth and on the phases of the Moon during its waxing crescent phase. Rain or shine.

At 9:30 p.m. Custer Institute astro-photographer Robert Farrell will demonstrate how to photograph celestial objects through a telescope. Bring your cell phone and get a telescope picture for yourself. Weather permitting.

Saving Cold-Stunned Sea Turtles in NY

Learn the importance of saving cold stunned sea turtles from the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society. When water temperatures decrease, these cold-blooded animals may lose their ability to swim. You can help them by monitoring local beaches. A beach walk and clean-up will follow, weather permitting. Participants ages 6 to 16 will receive a free Beach Stewardship backpack. Sponsored by New York Connect Kids to Parks.

Walk and Talk through Local History

Celebrate New York Path Through History Weekend with Hallockville Historian Richard Wines on a walk (about 1 mile, including hilly and sandy terrain) that will follow the newest trail at Hallock State Park Preserve. The journey will include learning about the “hoodoo” clay formations, the site of the first house in the area (built in 1715) and the more recent history of the property, leading up to its being acquired by New York State as a fully protected Park Preserve.
